Competition Makes Us Look Good

Ultragloss Automotive Franchise, Gearing Up for Growth

Last year was exciting. We’ve been steadily growing the past few years. Ultragloss has added some new people to our retail shops and in our corporate office. We’ve also added a few franchises to our list in this area and another in Dayton. I’ve been approached a number of times from locals about our franchise opportunity: what it is and why I did it.

First off, franchising was way different than I imagined it would be. It was a test of patience, a legal nightmare (I don’t think I’ve ever read so much legal jargon in my life), and extremely exciting all at the same time. I wanted to grow this brand, but I wasn’t sure how. In 2010, I started the franchising process and we launched Ultragloss America as a franchise opportunity in May of 2011.

My how the time flies.

We currently have 3 franchises on the road and 2 getting ready to go out in March. Javier Castillo is the newest member of our team. Javier will be going out in the Northfield/Cleveland area. Rick Burdine, who signed and completed training last year, will be heading out into the Dayton market. This is our first truck out in Dayton, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have Rick be the first one there.

You see, the Ultragloss franchise has a number of revenue streams revolving around paint; specifically, mobile paint services. Unlike other paint touch up companies, we focus on the entire vehicle and offer our clients a number of repairs. For our mobile trucks, dealerships are our primary customers. We work with our clients in a way that most other mobile paint touch up companies don’t. Ultragloss techs help dealers increase their profit margin by offering them affordable repair services that add value to their inventory. I have been successful by maintaining my integrity, working directly with my clients, and giving them the best value for the all-around services we offer. I’m passing my knowledge onto my franchisees so that they can be successful in the business. What’s great about franchising is that I’m not putting another corporate truck on the road; these franchisees own their business. This is a business they can build and sell later if they want. And we all get the added benefit of building this brand that Northeast Ohio knows (and loves).

This industry is virtually recession proof. In fact, Ultragloss has grown during periods of economic recession because the used market really started booming. More and more people are investing money into maintaining and improving what they have, verses going out and getting something new. And this line of work isn’t something that can be outsourced. The job security is nice. So it really excites me that I can share this concept and I look forward to growing in the future.

In a nutshell, I franchised because I wanted to grow my concept. I chose to franchise so I could match up with other people who shared my vision and wanted to grow themselves. Our franchise model is based on our proven system of development here in Akron, ohio and I look forward to taking this brand further in the years to come. It won’t be easy, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be worth it in the end.
